Celebrating 40 Years of Force

AF1 was born a sneaker in ‘82 but made a legend by b-ballers in Harlem, sneakerheads in Baltimore and communities around the world. They’re a reflection of culture. A timeless classic. They’re whatever the streets wanted them to be. So ask yourself, where are you going to take Force next? Shop the new Nike Air Force 1 Greatest Hits collection online and in-store.

Foot Locker and Nike presents: Join Forces with FBi Radio

  • Air Force 1

FBi Radio is an independent broadcaster that’s been on the air since 2003. Packed full of eclectic hosts and DJs, these individuals join forces to shape and amplify independent music and arts culture in Sydney. The beats ranges from deep house and disco to afrobeat and electronica with focus on Australian music.

    Music Library

FBi Radio’s music library houses each and every track added to rotation through our lifetime of using CDs to play music on-air. These are being digitised and archived right now, but the library remains a pillar of Sydney’s music history and an encyclopaedia of local culture since 2003.

    Pigeon Holes

The pigeon holes in our common area once served as the vessels of music & culture from local and global communities to all of Sydney. Every presenter, producer and program on the radio schedule had their own pigeon hole, filled with gold specific to their style, ready to shout about on-air.

    Studio 1

Studio 1 in FBi Radio was where the full-time broadcast was first switched on, August 29th, 2003. The live studio has since moved to the next room, though Studio 1 now lives as both a space where community stories are told, as well as a training ground for the best upcoming DJs in Sydney.

    FBi '96 Poster

FBi ’96 was a campaign to win support for FBi to hold a licence for FM broadcast after the then-Keating government announced the decision to allocate the last three FM licences in Sydney. Through a highly competitive process with sixteen prospective broadcasters, FBi Radio ended up securing a permanent licence by the Australian Broadcasting Authority in 2002 and we’re still here across the airwaves today.

    The Couch

Anyone who’s volunteered at FBi Radio knows how comfy the couch is. A seat fit for an aspiring contributor, waiting to be introduced to staff, or for some of the biggest artists in the world, waiting to be interviewed on-air.
